
Clean Rust Off Linear Motor Rotors
1 Sand down the rusted area with 1000-grit sandpaper until all rust is removed from the rotor.
2 Spray the rotor down with brake parts cleaner.
3 Drive your vehicle as normal if the rotor is installed on the vehicle and engage the brakes slowly over 5 to 10 feet. This will clean off any accumulated rust on the rotor surface.
Remove Rust OffMotor Laminations
1 Remove the motor laminations the engine. The method for doing so will vary depending on the type of engine you’re working on, so you’ll need to consult an owner’s manual if you’re unsure how to do this.
2 Put on the protective gloves and mix the rust removal agent with water in the container if it’s in concentrated form. The ratio of rust remover to water will vary depending on the product you’re using and how heavily the laminations are rusted. Consult the instructions on the packaging of the product you’re using for confirmation.
3 Submerge the laminations in the mixed rust remover. Lightly rusted laminations will need to be left for between 10 and 30 minutes. Heavily rusted laminations could need up to 24 hours, depending on the brand of rust remover you’re using.
4 Remove the laminations from the container and rinse with warm water and soap.
